Bright, playful, and deeply human, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 offers an inviting introduction to his musical world. Unlike his larger, more monumental symphonies, the Fourth balances childlike wonder, rustic humor, profound stillness, and radiant lyricism. The music unfolds with vivid orchestral color and culminates in a luminous final movement that imagines heaven through a child’s eyes—creating an experience that is at once joyful, nostalgic, and quietly transcendent. The program begins with the WORLD PREMIERE of local composer Veronica Maidoh’s “Journey to the Unknown”. Derek Maseloff conducts the Great Falls Philharmonic.
