Monique Blyther

Director of Communications, Branding & Engagement

Monique Blyther is a dynamic communications leader and digital storyteller whose career spans more than two decades at the intersection of media, marketing, and civic impact. A graduate of George Mason University with a degree in journalism, and further shaped by digital marketing studies at Georgetown University, Monique blends strategic insight with creative vision to craft narratives that inform, inspire, and move communities forward.

Her career began at Gannett, where she developed her foundation in digital production before stepping into pioneering roles across radio, television, and multimedia storytelling. Early in her career, Monique created the engaging radio show “Real Talk” and later produced the television series “Smart Mom,” which reached more than 2.5 million viewers and established her voice as a compelling communicator in regional media.

Over the years, Monique has led communications and brand strategy for organizations including Spectrum, WTOP News 103.5 FM, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC). Her work has consistently elevated public understanding of complex issues through storytelling and innovative media. Among her notable achievements is producing the documentary “Advancing Transit in Northern Virginia,” chronicling NVTC’s 60-year legacy of transportation leadership, and leading a paid social media campaign that earned first place nationally at the NAGC Blue Pencil Gold Screen Awards.

Today, as Director of Communications, Branding, and Engagement at the Tysons Community Alliance, Monique leads the organization’s storytelling and brand strategy—connecting people, ideas, and opportunities to elevate Tysons as a thriving urban destination. Her work bridges public and private partners, turning data, development, and community momentum into stories that shape how people see and experience Tysons.

When she’s not crafting campaigns or producing creative projects, Monique enjoys exploring new cultural destinations with her number one fan—her son.

Favorite thing about Tysons: discovering the district’s diverse and ever-evolving culinary scene.
