Monique Blyther

Director of Communications, Branding & Engagement

Monique Blyther is an esteemed communications leader and digital media strategist whose career spans over two decades of innovation and social impact. A distinguished graduate of George Mason University with a degree in journalism—and further refined by digital marketing studies at Georgetown University—Monique blends intellectual rigor with creative storytelling to shape narratives and drive meaningful change.

She began her journey at Gannett, where she honed her digital production skills before moving into pioneering roles in radio and television. Early on, her initiatives like the engaging radio show “Real Talk” and the influential series “Smart Mom,” which captivated over 2.5 million viewers, established her as a thought leader in media.

Her career further blossomed through key roles at Spectrum, WTOP News 103.5FM, VDOT, and NVTC, where she led award-winning projects that redefined brand strategies and fostered civic dialogue. Notably, she produced the documentary “Advancing Transit in Northern Virginia,” a compelling chronicle of NVTC’s 60-year legacy of innovation, and spearheaded a paid social media marketing campaign that clinched first place nationally at the NAGC Blue Pencil Gold Screen Awards.

Now, as the Director of Communications, Branding, and Engagement at the Tysons Community Alliance, Monique leverages her extensive expertise to build bridges, ignite conversations, and empower communities with both intellectual insight and social purpose.

When she’s not driving media innovation, she’s exploring new cultural landscapes with her number one fan—her son.

Favorite thing about Tysons: Exploring diverse cuisines from local restaurants.
