Sonali Soneji

Director of Transportation & Mobility

Sonali is a transportation planner who enjoys designing, implementing, and promoting multimodal systems that support the needs of the communities they serve. As the Director Transportation and Mobility at the Tysons Community Alliance, she leads a work program to enhance the access and connectivity of the local multimodal transportation network. The TCA facilitates, coordinates, and initiates planning studies, capital projects, and TDM initiatives. Explore Tysons, the TCA’s TDM program, serves all those who work, visit, and live in Tysons, VA.  

Over the last 30 years, Sonali has worked on a diverse range of projects and initiatives. Sonali managed project development for the Virginia Railway Express Crystal City and L’Enfant Station expansions. She leveraged her project management and organizational development experience to support the VHB Transit & Rail practice and develop the VHB Mid-Atlantic intern program. Sonali has developed parking policy and led transportation performance monitoring studies in Arlington, VA to study local trip generation rates, parking occupancy, and travel choices. She has evaluated the return on investment of transportation demand management (TDM) for public health & safety. She has helped develop several Transit and TDM Plans for the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.  

Sonali is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). She has a Masters in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor in Architecture from University of Mumbai, India. She enjoys volunteering for the Urban Land Institute UrbanPlan program.
