TCA Brings Industry Leaders Together to Discuss Affordable Housing at Upcoming Tysons Quarterly Market Report Webinar

Tysons, VA – On Tuesday, February 25, Tysons Community Alliance (TCA) invites the public to a dynamic and thought-provoking webinar that unveils its latest Quarterly Market Report and features an exclusive panel discussion on “How Affordable Housing Gets Financed.”

Moderated by TCA CEO Katie Cristol, an expert panel of industry leaders will share strategies for tackling housing affordability. Attendees will hear from:

Senthil Sankaran, Managing Principal, Housing Equity Fund at Amazon Community Impact
Carmen Romero, CEO, True Ground Housing
Tom Fleetwood, Director, Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development
Jason Duguay, Senior Vice President and Principal, SCG Development

“The need for creative solutions in affordable housing finance has never been greater,” said Katie Cristol. “We are excited to bring together such a distinguished panel to explore how public and private sectors collaborate to increase the supply of affordable housing and drive sustainable development.”

Attendees will get a first look at the Q4 2024 Tysons Quarterly Market Report, an in-depth analysis of regional market trends derived from TCA’s Tysons DataHub. This report will provide critical insights into residential, office, retail, and hospitality markets, as well as placemaking initiatives that are shaping the future of Tysons.

Key findings from the report include:
– Tysons currently has a 94 percent residential occupancy rate, with 972 affordable housing units under construction, supporting continued strong population growth and demographic shifts
– Strategic housing development near Metro stations, with 52 percent of all approved future units located within ¼ mile of transit
– Tysons saw a 4 percent increase in hotel occupancy in Q4 2024 compared to Q4 2023, a return to pre-pandemic levels that signals renewed activity in the district’s hospitality sector
– Overall, Q4 saw 10.4 million quarterly visits to Tysons and a very low 2.4 percent retail vacancy, underscoring a thriving retail economy

Policymakers, community stakeholders, and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within affordable housing finance are encouraged to attend.
