SUMMARY:Why We Sing: A Harmony Celebration
DESCRIPTION:The Fairfax Jubil-Aires and Bella Nova Chorus are returnin
g to Capital One Hall for a celebration of the magic of a cappella harmony
in the barbershop style and the power of song in this expansive performan
ce. Why DO we sing? For what happens when people raise their voices toge
ther—friendships are formed\, generations connect\, communities grow str
onger\, and audiences become part of the experience.\n\nThe Jubil-Aires i
s a 70-member mixed voice chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Chart
ered in 1953 in Fairfax\, Virginia\, the group has a deep history in the r
egion\, participating in community performances\, youth programs\, and hol
iday events in the Virginia and DC Metro area. International medalists Bel
la Nova Chorus is an inclusive women’s chapter of Harmony\, Incorporated
\, whose mission is “focused on bringing joy to our lives and the lives
of others through song.” A large part of that joy is building skills in
the craft and art of barbershop harmony singing and taking those skills to
the competition stage.\n\nThe two choruses will be joined on stage by the
Westfield High School Chamber Singers (an auditioned ensemble led by th
 e talented Katie Pierce)\, a number of accomplished quartets\, and a speci
al guest appearance by acclaimed National Symphony Orchestra violinist Pet
er Haase.\n\nCome discover why we sing and before the final note fades\,
you may just find yourself singing along!
